Crankshaft is not supported or endorsed by Steam or Valve. Plugins can cause you to lose data, create security issues, or otherwise damage your device. Treat plugins like any other third-party program, and only install plugins that you trust.

This project is a work in progress. If you run into issues, feel free to join one of the community channels and ask for help.

  1. Close Steam if you have it running.
  2. Install Crankshaft from Flathub.
    • Depending on your distro, you might have a GUI that lets you install Flatpaks (such as Discover on KDE).
    • Otherwise, run:
      flatpak install --user space.crankshaft.Crankshaft
  3. Start Crankshaft from your start menu.
    • Alternatively, run this command in a terminal:
      flatpak run space.crankshaft.Crankshaft
    • After starting it, you should see a new puzzle piece icon in your system tray.
  4. Fully quit out of Steam, then re-open it.
  5. Go to the library tab in Steam. After a few seconds, you should see Steam reload, and a new puzzle piece icon will be visible near the top left of the library, to the right of the "Home" button.
